A PDF behind a QR is not a digital menu

Plenty of restaurants “already have a QR”. It is a PDF hanging off a code. Guests scan, wait for it to load, pinch to read, and see the same paper as always — sometimes with handwritten corrections scanned in.

That is not a digital menu. It is a reprint that lives on the phone. When a price changes, you export again, upload again, and hope nobody still has the old PDF cached.

The PDF inherits every paper problem

A PDF does not know what sold out. It does not filter allergens. It does not detect the phone language. It cannot show bar vs terrace prices. It shares badly on WhatsApp: heavy, cropped, or unreadable.

Staff still explain the menu at the table. You still correct by hand or generate another “this week” PDF. The QR on the table did not change. The document it opens still lies.

A digital menu is edited. A PDF is replaced.
