QR menu with no app download: if you ask for an account, they ask for paper
August 19, 2026

A table QR that sends people to the App Store is a dead QR. The tourist is off data. Locals do not want another account. In thirty seconds someone asks for the paper menu you kept “just in case”.
That kills the promise of a QR menu: speed. If the first step is install, you are back to waiting.
The standard guests already learned
On holiday they scanned menus that opened in the browser. That is the habit. Any extra step — login, aggressive cookies, “download the app to see the menu” — feels like a toll.
Ordenala asks the guest for nothing. Scan, digital menu, phone language, allergen filter, photos. You take the order. Done.
No app for you at the start either
Owners should not sit through a sales onboarding to see if the tool works. You design the QR menu without signing up. You see the preview. You create an account and pay when you publish.
That symmetry matters: the guest does not download; you do not sign a contract to look.
What breaks when there is an app
- A table of four: three scan, one refuses, they ask for paper for everyone
- The hotel: the foreign guest will not add another app on roaming
- Instagram: the bio link cannot demand an install
- The team: back to explaining dishes because half the table opened nothing
A digital menu in the browser works at the table, on the terrace, and on WhatsApp with the same link.
Basic at the table. Subdomain if you want to be found.
Basic: internal path, table QR, no logo on the code. Standard and Premium: subdomain, site with hours and map, more languages. In every case the guest still has no app.
Print the code once. Update prices and sold-out dishes from your phone.
Create my QR menu — no guest app, no account for you until you publish.
